Amália / Emily Pleasance

MA, RP(Q), ExAT

My name is Amália / Emily, and I tend to human-earth relationships.

For the last decade, my work has extended beyond the art gallery into therapy rooms, public parks, community festivals, conferences, and local and national news segments, all with a focus on helping others reshape their relationship with more-than-human-beings. Whether it is public programming, community art, corporate wellness, or clinical practice, my work centres on our interconnection with all life and supports people in remembering their deep belonging to this world.

You are a force of nature. You are always home.

I have many titles, degrees, certificates, and designations, but you can think of me simply as a community-care practitioner. Someone with roots growing in many fields - the expressive arts, climate psychology, play, land, the body.

The Forest Bathing Club, a community group I founded in 2022 that primarily operates out of Evergreen Brickworks, is my proudest achievement. There are members who have returned every month, in every season, for many years, to gather in circle and formally practice being in relationship with Earth. Their co-created poems, pieces of art, personal stories, and shared experiences have been invaluable to my life and career.

Amália/Emily - “I am grateful to be able to live and work in Tkaronto. I  recognize this land to be the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat. I acknowledge that Tkaronto is covered by Treaty 13 and that while I am on this land I must know and live the Dish With One Spoon Wampum agreements to honour all beings that live in this land.
